Description
Rosemary Clooney’s version of “We’re in the Money” is the second track on her celebrated 1996 album Dedicated to Nelson, released via Concord Jazz.
During 1956 and 1957, Clooney hosted her own variety television show, The Rosemary Clooney Show. The legendary Nelson Riddle—famous for orchestrating hits for Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole—served as her musical arranger, creating dozens of custom, big-band charts just for her broadcast.
Decades later, those physical charts were completely lost. In the mid-1990s, Clooney and her musical director John Oddo spent hours listening to old audio tapes of her 1950s TV show. They painstakingly transcribed Riddle’s lost arrangements straight from the audio. Because the original TV versions were short, they expanded the charts into full-length songs and recorded them with a massive 17-piece big band for the 1996 album.
